Queen Elizabeth National park is located in western Uganda spreading over 1,978 square kilometers of land covered by swamps, forests, savannas and shrubs. The park was gazetted in 1952 and its named after the Queen of England (Elizabeth) who visited the park. The park shelters is bordered by districts of Kamwenge, Rubirizi, Rukungiri and Kasese. Queen Elizabeth National Park shelters a high concentration of wild animals  which include Lions, Elephants, Hippos, Uganda kobs, Impalas, Topis, Crocodiles, Warthogs, waterbucks, mongoose and bush bucks among others. The park is also home to the Kazinga channel which is a 40 kilometers stretch joining Lake Edward and Lake George. Game Viewing is the most done travel activity in Queen Elizabeth National park which bring in a high number of travelers on Uganda safaris. The Ishasha sector of QENP is home to the famous tree climbing lions which are not see anywhere else in Uganda. Also, Queen Elizabeth National park comprise of Kyambura gorge which is home to the endangered chimpanzees. You will also visit the local communities for a cultural experience. The park is also home to 600 bird species which make it an Important Birding Area in Uganda. The birds to see in Queen Elizabeth National park include Shoe-bill, Swamp Flycatcher, Collared Platincole, African Finfoot, African Jacana, African kingfisher, T Yellow Billed Stork, Ibises, Hammerkop, papyrus Gonolek, African Skimmer, African Hobby, Spotted Red Shank, White Winged Tern and Great Blue Turaco among others. The park  also shelters various crater lakes which include Lake katwe for salt mining, Lake Munyanyange  home for the greater and lesser flamingos, Lake Nyamunuka and Lake Bunyampaka among others.  The other sectioon of Quen eliabeth called Kalinzu foerst also shelters the endangered chimpanzees. The popular travel activities done in Queen Elizabeth National park include game viewing, lion tracking, chimpanzee trekking, boat cruise, bird watching, nature/forest walks  and community tours among others.We shall start and end in Kampala/Entebbe

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park & launch cruise

3 Days Queen Elizabetjh ParkAfter morning breakfast, you will be picked up by our company tour guide and later hit the road for a transfer to Queen Elizabeth NP; driving west wards(3 – 4 hours’ drive) along the Masaka – Mbarara High way; En route, take in the beautiful scenic views of the country side, stop over at the Equator, before proceeding with your drive to Queen Elizabeth NP. Upon arrival, have lunch and proceed with an amazing 2 Hours’ Launch Cruise on the Kazinga Channel where you will be rewarded with clear views of hippos, crocodiles, several bird species, elephants as they all bath in the afternoon sunshine. Dinner and over night at Enganzi Safari Lodge / Simba Safari Lodge(Budget), Elephant Safari Lodge(Midrange), Mweya Safari Lodge( Luxury).

Day 2: Kalinzu Chimps Tracking and Visit to Katwe Salt Mine

Have breakfast and embark on an exciting chimpanzee tracking exercise in Kalinzu forest reserve. After lunch, set out for a guided nature walk to the Katwe Salt Mine. Dinner and overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge(Luxury), Park View Lodge(Midrange0, Simba Safari Camp(Budget)

Day 3: Morning Game Drive and Transfer to Kampala

3 Days Queen Elizabeth Park SafariVery early in the morning, you will set off with your morning cup of coffee for a wonderful game drive to catch a glimpse of the early risers and late night hunters; hyenas, lions, buffaloes, elephants etc before they go into their hide outs or days’ search for food and shelter. Proceed with your drive to Kampala and with an early arrival, you may engage in a City Tour; visiting to Buganda Kingdom Palace, Kasubi Tombs, Namugongo Martyrs Shrine and many other exceptional tourist centers within the city before drop off at either a hotel or airport for departure flight.
