More so, Nyungwe Forest National park is the number one Important Birding Area in Rwanda sheltering over 300 bird species some of which are not found anywhere else in the world. Some of the notable birds in Nyungwe Forest include African Paradise Flycatcher, Chinspot Batis, Long Crested Eagle, Blue headed sunbird, Handsome Francolin, Regal Sunbird, Strange Weaver, Red collared babbler, Ruwenzori Turaco, Ruwenzori Batis, Ruwenzori Francolin and Dusky Crimson Wing among others. The 3 Days Nyungwe chimpanzee tour also entail a canopy walk where travelers walk on a suspended bridge 60 meters above the forest. Canopy walk offers you great aerial views of the main forest, virunga volcanoes and neighboring local communities. Day 1: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park
On your arrival at Kigali International Airport, our company tour guide will welcome you and transfer you to Nyungwe forest NP; driving south east, en route, visit the Murambi genocide memorial site, Nyanza King’s palace. Dinner and overnight at Nyungwe Forest Lodge (Luxury), Nyungwe Top View Lodge (Midrange) and Gisakura Hotel (Budget).
Day 2: Chimps Tracking and Canopy Walk
After breakfast, you will assemble at the Nyungwe Forest Park offices to be briefed on the chimpanzee tracking expedition. Expect to view other wildlife species like velvert monkeys, baboons, among others during this search; enjoy an hour with the chimpanzees observing their behavior before retrieving to the starting point for your return to the lodge. In the afternoon, engage in a guided Canopy walk (and it’s not for the light hearted). Dinner and overnight at Nyungwe Forest Lodge (Luxury), Nyungwe Top View Lodge (Midrange) and Gisakura Hotel (Budget).
Day 3: Departure
Enjoy your breakfast and get ready for your return trip to Kigali and with an early arrival, engage in an amazing Kigali City Tour to Gisozi Genocide Memorial Site, National Museum a few to mention before drop off at a hotel / Kigali International AIRPORT.

How to Prepare for your gorilla tour

Please note, to trek gorillas successfully, you need to be fit, or an active person and not necessarily very fit.
